Booking System for Comino’s Blue Lagoon (2025 Guide)

Comino is a tiny island, just 3.5 km² in size, and part of the Maltese archipelago. Only two residents live on the island, and there are no supermarkets, restaurants, hospitals, or schools. Despite its size, Comino is world-famous for its stunning Blue Lagoon, a natural wonder known for its turquoise waters and unspoiled charm.

To protect this fragile environment, Malta introduced a new booking system for the Blue Lagoon starting 1st May 2025. This system regulates overcrowding and helps safeguard the ecosystem.

Previously, as many as 12,000 visitors crowded the lagoon at peak times in summer 2024. Now, visitor numbers are capped at 4,000 per time slot, a drastic but necessary change.

How the Booking System Works

Booking your visit is free and very simple:

  1. Go to the official Team Blue Lagoon website.
  2. Select your date, time slot (morning, afternoon, or evening), and the number of people. Each person can book for up to 4 people.
  3. Click “Book Now” and proceed to the shopping cart (top right corner).
  4. You will not be charged, this system is free.
  5. Enter your contact details (name, email, and address).
  6. Place your order, and you’ll receive a QR code by email.

On the day of your visit, you’ll board your boat as usual. When you arrive at the Blue Lagoon, Transport Malta officials will check your QR code and give you a wristband in a specific colour for your time slot. TM officials patrol the area of the Blue Lagoon to make sure visitors respect their time limits.

Important to Know: The Blue Lagoon Beach is Small

While the new system makes visiting more pleasant, it’s important to set expectations.

My Recommendation: Visit on a Boat Tour

This is why I highly recommend visiting the Blue Lagoon on a boat tour. After years of trying different ones, I’ve found the best boat tour that:

Even if you’re on a boat tour, you still need to register for your free QR code. Many boat operators make this easy by providing a direct QR link onboard, but I suggest registering in advance, it only takes a couple of minutes.

Visiting Comino Outside of Summer

If you’re visiting outside the busy months of May–September, you’ll find a completely different experience.
