1. Comino’s Blue Lagoon & Crystal Lagoon Boat Tour
You’ve probably heard of Comino’s Blue Lagoon, and for good reason; it’s breathtaking. The waters are crystal-clear and stunningly blue, making it one of Malta’s most iconic spots. But between May and September, it can get crowded. That’s why I always recommend taking a boat tour, ideally in the afternoon, which is especially worthwhile during the busy July and August months.
After trying several tours myself, this is truly the only shared tour I would ever choose. You can read more about why it stands out in my full blog post here. It’s modern, comfortable, and stable—perfect even if you’re prone to seasickness.
Tour Details:
- June to September: Everyday, 10:00 AM or 05:00 PM, 4–6 hours, €30–€40
- October to May: Everyday, 10:45 AM or 11:15 AM, 6 hours, €30–€40

2. Valletta Foodie Tour
If you love food as much as I do, the Valletta Foodie Tour is a must. You’ll taste classic Maltese dishes like pastizzi, Imqaret, and local specialties like Kinnie and Cisk beer. Beyond the food, the tour is a cultural experience, letting you explore the city’s history and hidden corners with passionate local guides.
It’s perfect for those short on time who want to enjoy Valletta’s culinary delights while soaking in the city’s charm. Come hungry—you won’t leave disappointed!
Tour Details:
- Days: Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays
- Starts: 09:30 AM
- Duration: 3 hours
- Price: €55

3. Discover Malta’s Medieval Past in Mdina & Rabat
Mdina and Rabat are stunning on their own, but a guided walking tour brings their rich history to life. Wander through quiet streets in the afternoon, when the golden light makes the limestone facades glow.
From ornate door knockers to vintage road signs and religious plaques, every corner tells a story. Don’t miss the catacombs in Rabat for a glimpse into Malta’s early Christian history. And of course, grab pastizzi from Crystal Palace—truly a local treat.
Tour Details:
- Days: Monday to Friday
- Starts: Varies (10:00 AM–3:00 PM)
- Duration: 2.5 hours
- Price: €25

4. Gozo: Malta’s Tranquil Island Escape
Gozo is a world apart—quieter, greener, and more relaxed than Malta’s main island. Rolling hills, rugged coastline, peaceful villages, and warm local hospitality make it a dream for explorers.
If you only have one day, the best way to experience Gozo is on an organized tour. Seeing all the highlights on your own is nearly impossible, so if you prefer exploring independently, plan to stay overnight. For recommendations on the best places to stay in Gozo, check out my blog post here. UTV tours will take you to the Citadel in Victoria, Marsalforn, Xlendi, and hidden gems like Xwejni, while quad bike tours offer a more adventurous way to reach remote spots.
I’ve tried both the UTV and quad bike tours, but if you’re looking for a safer and more comfortable option, UTV tours are a great choice. Feeling adventurous? A quad bike tour is an absolute thrill, letting you explore hidden corners of Gozo; just be confident behind the wheel!
Tour Details:
- Available: Everyday
- Starts: 08:00 AM
- Duration: 8 hours
- Price: €80–€115

Tips for Short Visits
- Stay in Valletta: Ideal base for easy access to the island’s top attractions.
- Compare transport options: Bolt rides can sometimes be cheaper than buses, especially in groups.
- Pair sightseeing: Explore Valletta in the morning and Mdina & Rabat in the afternoon.
- Plan your Comino visit strategically: Afternoon tours offer a quieter experience at the Blue Lagoon without taking up your entire day.
- Gozo in a day: Jeep or buggy tours allow you to see highlights and hidden gems efficiently.
This list is perfect for first-time visitors or short stays, giving you a taste of Malta’s best experiences in just a few days. For longer trips, check out my Malta Guides section for more in-depth recommendations.
